PRIOR PLANNING PREVENTS P*** POOR PERFORMANCE

By SLAS Spokesperson

It was no doubt kindly meant and possibly quite helpful but when the Crown Court judge in Northampton passed a note to defence counsel in these terms during the conduct of a dangerous driving trial, it was deemed to have had an effect on that lady's confidence such that the conviction resulting from the trial was set aside by the Appeal Court on the grounds that there had not been a fair hearing.  Absolutely no comment.
