Michael Scanlan who was President of the Law Society in its fiftieth year of business (1999) was elected unopposed last night, at the AGM convened at the Royal Faculty of Procurators in Glasgow, as President of the Scottish Law Agents Society in its 125th year of business.  Michael paid handsome tribute to outgoing President, David MacLennan, who had completed his second term of office, leading the Society through  one of the our busiest and most challenging years in living memory, and welcomed into office as Vice President, Craig Bennet, and thanked him also for undertaking a second term of office.

With recently elected Dean of the Faculty, Paul Carnan, and Chief Executive of the Law Society, Lorna Jack, in attendance, Michael promised the Society's support for the Law Society wherever appropriate but undertook also that our own Society would not hesitate to stand up separately for its membership whenever and wherever circumstances required.
