There has been something of an upsurge in new membership applications to our Society in recent months. At the same time, many new members have experienced delays in receiving their membership documentation. Now for the excuses. These documents each have to be signed by officials based in different parts of the country and we have had occasional problems with postal transmissions. It is really a bit difficult sometimes to know exactly what stamps are required on particular items of Royal Mail. On top of that, our in-house colour printer, which is required for the very high quality certificates which we issue, had broken down and we went on to outsource the printing of these certificates. This seemed easy and straightforward initially but, unfortunately, our system of electronic transmission to the outsource ceased to function and we have now replaced our own colour printer. We expect normal service to resume very shortly and, in the meantime, offer our apologies to those new members who are awaiting their documentation.
