By SLAS Spokesperson

It has been somewhat difficult to raise the debate sought by some of our members on Alternative Business Structures (ABS).  There appears to be a widespread inertia based on the supposition that, having come in to England, it will inevitably find its way in to Scotland and also, that it is unlikely to affect anyone other than the larger firms.  Walter Semple takes a rather different view and suggests inter alia that, not only is ABS not necessarily the order of the day, but also that it flies in the face of  European principle, tradition and law.  Bringing a degree of welcome class to this page, Walter has kindly permitted me to publish his response to the Scottish Government's consultation paper which you can find by clicking below.  Depending on various factors these items might take a few moments to appear, but they are worth waiting for.

If you would like to contribute any material to this debate then the time is now and you should contact me at asap.
