Data Protection Act 1998

By SLAS Spokesperson

It should be remembered that the deadline for compliance with the Act is 24th October, but are firms ready for it? It has been suggested that organisations which normally keep client’s records confidential, such as law firms, are going to be most at risk of non-compliance with the Act. It might be sensible for firms to appoint a partner to be responsible for compliance, perhaps the same person who looks after client relations and complaints would be appropriate.
